Recipe for the Week:
Old Fashioned Scrambled Eggs
Everyone loves this dish, whether it's made at home, at another home, or at a fancy restaurant. Eggs are a nutritional content for an everyday breakfast and it's usually the best way to start the day.
Now I know this recipe has been repeated several times on the net and on TV and such, but I just wanted to share to you my first dish that I found completely delicious and a simple one to boot.
Here's how you start everything right:
Ingredients:
- Two medium sized eggs;
- Butter;
- Nestle sour cream (or milk, to be conservative);
- Salt and pepper;
- and basil (though this is highly optional).
Procedure:
1. Heat a non-stick frying pan to low heat. This would actually prevent your scrambled eggs from browning.
2. While the pan is heating, add a small slice of butter. This is actually dependent on you guys, whether you would want your eggs to be buttery. After all, butter is the best way to decorate your dish. The more butter, the better. (But don't add ALL the butter okay, I just borrowed this quote from Julia Child.)
3. Crack the two eggs in a bowl and whisk. Seriously guys, whisk like you've never whisked before. It isn't called, "scrambled eggs" for nothing, you know? Just keep whisking until the eggs are bright yellow and completely liquidy. Add two spoons of sour cream or one-half a cup of milk, and then whisk again. Make sure the color is an even, bright yellow again.
4. When the pan is fully heated, add the eggs until the sides turn a bit solid. This might actually take a while. And you actually have to be quick thinking on this one. Once the sides turn solid, push the eggs way down the middle and add a pinch of salt and pepper.
5. Once the salt and pepper has been added, flip the eggs as carefully as you can. But if you want your eggs messy and really, really scrambled, go ahead and mix it all together. The eggs should be cooked, light yellow, and still soft after you have cooked them.
6. Turn off the heat and add the basil on top for flavor. As stated above, basil is highly optional. You can also add cheese if you can. Just as long as you turn off the heat and let the eggs cook slightly. After a few seconds, transfer the eggs into a plate and serve! Voila, you've got yourself breakfast!
